1971 / 72 Ducati Desmo (the) Silver Shotgun

In January 1974, Two Wheels Magazine (Australia) published a 13,000 kilometre ride report on a 1971 / 72 Ducati Desmo single. The article was called 'The Silver Shotgun!', and the name has resonated around the world. It was never called 'The Silver Shotgun' back in Borgo Panigale, but today its the moniker that will be recognised.

'What is there about this last true production cafe racer that honors it with immortality? We might have believed its qualities were all Italian idiosyncrasies the average owner might not be prepared to tolerate until JOE BLAKE presented this 13,000 kilometre report. The single-cylinder bike is not dead, he says. Nor does its strength lie only in soppy memories of yesteryear. It took a Desmo to make this experienced rider realise it!'
